Winston Smith

I am currently confused about the reason why Harvey would use Winston Smith as his pseudonym as the author of one or more of his published books?

Who is Winston Smith?

Winston Smith is a fictional character and the main protagonist of George Orwell‘s dystopian 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. The character was employed by Orwell as an everyman in the setting of the novel, a “central eye … [the reader] can readily identify with.”[1]Winston Smith

What did Winston Smith symbolize?

Winston embodies the values of a civilized society: democracy, peace, freedom, love, and decency. When Winston is destroyed, these things are destroyed with him, and so goes the reader’s faith that these values are undying and a natural part of being human.

Why is Winston Smith an anti-hero?

Winston Smith is a primary modern anti-hero in the novel 1984. He is a loyal Party member, who works in the Ministry of Truth, where he changes historical records to fit the opinions of his leader, Big Brother. One main flaw that Winston has is the fact that he lives his life through fear.

What does it mean for the case?

I’m not sure. I will guess though that there is some connection someone out there found or will find that possibly links the Zodiac Killer and the movie 1984. Obviously Harvey using that as his pen name seems very odd. I think it’s a clue.

Time will tell….
